After completing the Training (delcoares.net) on EC-001 Introduction to Emergency Communication (delcoares.net), tonight we will focus on the hands-on proficiency skills that are a part of ARRL ARES Training for Level 2, which is required to be able to deploy for an emergency situation.

Skills include:

Proficiency/Skill

Program tone into HT (R)
Program frequency & offset into radio (R)
Write and send an ICS‐213 message (R)
Operate VHF Digital messaging station (O)
Operate unit specific Digital VHF or HF station (O)
Build a simple dipole antenna3 (E)
Build Powerpole adapter cable3 (E)
Solder PL259 connector to coax3 (E)
Assemble a 24-hour Deployment Kit4 (E)

We will setup different stations to review the skills and you can take turns practicing each.  If you have a portable go kit radio, please bring it with you for the programming tone, frequency and offset.  We will also setup a Winlink station to practice that as well.

Volunteer Appreciation Event

Both Delco ARES and DelCART will have tables there, which is a great way to let fellow Citizen Corps members know about us and what we do.
